WASHINGTON, DC — Senator James Lankford (R-OK) joined CNN’s The Arena with Kasie Hunt to discuss breaking developments in the India–Pakistan conflict.

Excerpts:

On India and Pakistan: “This has been a long- simmering issue… President Trump, President Modi have a close relationship. But this is a phone call President Trump’s got to be able to make—to be able to say, how do we de-escalate the situation? How quickly can we do it? If India is striking inside Pakistan, they’re trying to create a buffer zone…This is one that we’ve got to be able to talk people down on quickly, because you’ve got two extremely large, extremely well-armed militaries.”
