WASHINGTON, DC – The Office of Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today released the second episode of Lankford’s new Podcast called “The Breakdown with James Lankford.” This second episode focuses on trade and how the ongoing trade negotiations between America and other nations impact Oklahoma. Lankford’s foreign affairs legislative advisor, Adam Farris, joined the Senator on the episode. The Senator’s new Podcast series was launched on June 29; the first episode was about immigration.

Lankford has been very involved this year on trade and how the ongoing negotiations impact Oklahoma farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, and families. On July 25, Lankford met with President Trump on this issue, and the next day, Lankford questioned US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer during an Appropriations hearing. In April, Lankford delivered a floor speech to urge the Trump administration to quickly complete trade negotiations, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the US-Korea (KORUS) deal. In the speech, Lankford shared several specific Oklahoma stories about how the trade negotiations are impacting farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. In November of 2017, Lankford led a letter to encourage the Trump Administration to prioritize job creation over trade deficits in the NAFTA negotiations. In August of 2017, Lankford wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post explaining how America’s trade deficit isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
