Lankford Votes to Keep Government Open While Congress Continues to Discuss Border, Ukraine, and Full Government Funding

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement after the Senate passed a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government through November 17, 2023:

“This is not how the United States of America should govern. We should have the battles on spending, national security, and foreign policy, but we should also keep the federal government open so federal workers, contractors, and the American people are not affected by a congressional fight. The status quo in DC needs to end. My Prevent Government Shutdowns Act will hold Congress accountable instead of putting our military, Border Patrol, federal employees and their families through the stress of serving without knowing when they will get paid.”
