Senator Lankford Welcomes Oklahoma Honor Flight Veterans To Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today welcomed 88 veterans from the Tulsa area during a one-day trip to visit Washington, D.C. war memorials with the Honor Flight charity. The Oklahomans visited the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, the Lincoln Memorial, the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the Arlington National Cemetery.

“It was my honor to thank so many veterans personally during their visit to Washington, DC,” said Lankford. “We owe our nation’s freedoms to the contributions of these Oklahomans, and others from this great generation, who fought for America in war. For 11 years, this World War II memorial has stood to remind us of a pivotal time and generation. I’m glad when any of our veterans are able to come here to see it.”

The Oklahoma Honor Flight organization is part of the national Honor Flight Network, and this was its 20th flight from Oklahoma and 8th from Tulsa. Honor Flight Network is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 42 states dedicated to transporting World War II and Korean War veterans on a free trip to Washington, D.C. to see all the veterans’ memorials.
