Traditional Internship

The Office of Senator James Lankford is seeking applications for interns in the Oklahoma City, Tulsa & Washington, DC offices. Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: answering phones, performing administrative tasks, assisting with database management, contributing to the office correspondence process, supporting staff with projects, and conducting legislative research. Applicants should be highly organized and hardworking. They should also have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must have completed high school.

Internships provide an excellent way to gain valuable experience and skills, and could lead to college credit (per your university’s requirements). Interns are expected to work a minimum of 14 hours a week over 2-3 days.

Internship applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail and will be required to submit a resume, cover letter, brief writing sample, and two references prior to the application deadline.

Press/Communications Internship

Applications for press internships are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Office of Senator James Lankford is seeking applications for press/communications interns in his Oklahoma City office. Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: assisting the communications team with daily operations; assembling TV, radio, and print news clips; clipping videos of floor speeches, media appearances, and committee hearings; helping draft social media posts and compiling social media analytics reports; drafting website content and briefings for videos and media appearances; and additional special projects depending on the internship timeframe.

Applicants should have a strong interest or academic focus in communications, public relations, or similar. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate professionalism and good judgment.

Internships provide an excellent way to gain valuable experience and skills and could lead to college credit (per your university or college’s requirements). Press/communications interns should expect to work a minimum of 14 hours a week over 2-3 days with a preference given to AM availability Tuesday through Thursday.
